KABUL - The reported hanging of a boy, 7, in Helmand province is one telling example of why an eventual satisfactory conclusion to fighting in Afghanistan might be an impossible goal in terms of Western views of civilized society.
The child was accused of being a spy for foreign military forces, according to ABC News, and was hanged from a tree in the Sangin district.
At a news conference, Afghan President Hamid Karzai called the killing “a crime against humanity.”
The Times of London reported the boy “was seized as he played in his garden.”
